Chris Cagle- “No Love Songs”

Review:

So, Chris Cagle gets himself back on the radio with “What Kinda Gone” and looks like he’s about to claim the “piece of the pie” that he’s been so close to grabbing several times before.  Then, he comes out with “No Love Songs.”  Lyrically, it’s interesting.  Vocally, it’s just off.  The choice to talk in the chorus just does not match the music behind him.  However, I think radio is going to try to shove this down a lot of people’s throats.  The smart ones will get a laugh when listening to the lyric the first couple of times they hear it, but after that, it may wear thin.  For this song to do better than my prediction, radio has to let this song grow on people.  Play it here and there and see if people can get over the weaknesses in the song.   It will probably not make it to the Top 10, but it will definitely make the Top 30.  This is the classic “grow on you” song that’s hard to predict.
